Puldin
is located at the very heart of Old Plovdiv. Built over
the foundations of the city's Roman fortifications - parts
of wich are on display inside - the restaurant is a living
record of Plovdiv's millennial history. In the early Ottoman
period the site was used by Dervish monks who built a temple
which was later built over and enlarged to provide premises
for the city's government. (At the end of the Ottoman period
Plovdiv had 52 (!) mosques and was by far the largest urban
centre within the borders of present-day Bulgaria.)
The building was restored spectacularly during the socialist
period and turned into a landmark restaurant. A proud heir
to this tradition, Puldin is now privately owned. Rich menu
with a variety of fish and vegetarian dishes. Traditional
Bulgarian cuisine. Impressive interiors. Large patio in
the back is fantastic way to enjoy the best that Old Plovdiv can offer.

The
two Central Park restaurants are favoured by Plovdiv's bohemian
types for their natural park settings, their central location,
as well as for the attractive prices. The interior is a synthesis
of wood, stone, plastic art and truly original furniture - a
locally branded fantasy style. Lush greenery in summer and cozy
fireplaces in winter. The menu has numerous good choices to
offer to seekers of culinary adventures. A wide selection of
wines. |
